If you are a local business or organization (including non-profit) and would like to participate in our Downtown South Boston Fall Lightpole Decorating Contest, please complete the form below and submit. BE SURE TO CLICK THE RED SUBMIT BUTTON AT THE END OF YOUR APPLICATION!

We will begin decorating the downtown lightpoles in Fall or Halloween themes on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The earlier you decorate, the more time you have to get votes! Once your light pole is decorated, send a good quality picture to Melissa at mnelson@southbostonva.us or text to 434.738.7840. (If you can’t take a picture and need help, just text and let us know and we’ll help you).

Lightpoles will be assigned as soon as you register.

Voting for poles will be by the public for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and announced on October 31, 2024.

More information and instructions will be emailed once we have assigned the location of your lightpole.

Rules

1. ONLY USE PAINTERS TAPE OR ZIP TIES!!!! Other tape peels off the green pole paint.

2. You must maintain your pole decorations throughout the month.

3. Each pole must have the business/ organization name on it in order to be judged

4. Poles are to be decorated in fall or Halloween themed.

5. Decorations must be completely removed (including any debris) on November 1.
